There are five major types of essays. These five types are narrative, descriptive, expository, persuasive, and admission essays. In narrative essay, the student is given to tell a story in the form of essay. In this way, the student writes an essay on a story. In descriptive essay, the student is given to write an essay on any object, happening, issue or about any person. This type of essay is written to check the student’s writing abilities about a specific experience. The student is also encouraged to write his experience about a specific event.

In expository essay, the writer explains a topic by providing the evidence or examples. In this type of essay, the writer is not allowed to explain his own feelings. Instead of explaining his own feelings the writer is asked to explain the topic with the help of evidence or examples. The expository essays have wide range of essays. This contains the comparison and contrast essays. The cause and effect essays are also called the expository essays. The essays of the “how to” titles are also the expository essays.
